DISCOVER THE OUTDOORS
The Sunapee area offers wonderful opportunities to get outside and explore this beautiful landscape. Hiking, skiing, ice skating and fishing during the winter is awesome and yet it involves careful planning and preparation. NH Fish and Game and the White Mountain National Forest both suggest following Recreate Responsibly guidelines.
Locally there are trails to snowshoe. See Ausbon Sargent’s list of hiking trails. Discover the joy of cross-country skiing at Pine Hill Ski Club! For some extra excitement try a hand held wingsail at Kitewing designed for sailing over ice and snow with skates and skis. Skating is available at town rinks both in Sunapee and New London. And of course there’s downhill skiing and boarding at Mount Sunapee!
And if you wish to go farther afield check out Winter in NH for more winter adventures.

Reduce the Salt: Protect our Water Resources
Use de-icing products sparingly—more salt does not make snow & ice melt faster
Clean surfaces frequently and salt only to break up ice for easier removal
Collect excess salt &/or sand between storms so it does not wash into a nearby waterbody
